About the Legal Aid Services Unit
Legal challenges can be complex and overwhelming, particularly for individuals without access to proper guidance. IIUM Legal Aid Services (ILAS), through the IIUM Legal Aid Clinic, provides free legal advice, counseling, and assistance, ensuring that justice remains accessible to those in need.
Established in 2000 by the Ahmad Ibrahim Kulliyyah of Laws (AIKOL), ILAS is committed to offering pro bono legal services, including legal advisory support, dispute resolution guidance, and public legal education. It serves as a crucial resource for vulnerable groups, including single mothers, children, and underserved communities within Gombak and the IIUM fraternity.
Beyond providing legal aid, ILAS functions as an academic and professional training ground for AIKOL lecturers, allowing them to refine their expertise in interpreting and applying legal provisions to real-life cases. Additionally, ILAS plays a key role in enhancing legal awareness through seminar, conference, forum, roundtable discussion (RTD), and workshop, while also serving as a structured training platform for law students, equipping them with practical experience in legal counseling and advocacy.
